2nd announcement Piksel Fest Spill

We are excited to start the second round of Piksel Fest Spill activities, this time focused on Live Coding. Live coding (sometimes referred to as 'on-the-fly programming', 'just-in-time programming', and 'conversational programming') is a performing arts form and a creative technique centered on writing source code and using interactive programming in an improvised way. Hydra is a live code-able video synth and coding environment that runs directly in the browser. It is free and open-source and made for beginners and experts alike.

On June 8th, guest artists Blaž Pavlica from Slovenia and Flor de Fuego from Germany/Argentina will perform using virtual instruments through Hydra live coding instances within IDLE, the Inclusive Digital Laboratory for Experimental Art at Studio 207 in Bergen. The event will also be streamed for an international audience.

This event is part of the ICLC Satellite Events celebrated in Shanghai last week, produced by the NYU (https://iclc.toplap.org/2024/satellite.html). The virtual instruments has been created ad hoc for Piksel and IDLE by the artists, and premiered in November 23 at Studio 207. (https://youtu.be/DFkb7Rbuuyw?si=iCT5M5SSHr5qDTlm) On June 8th Blaz and Flor will introduce us to their new IDLE-Hydra developments.

Piksel is also opening up the themes by hosting 2 Piksel KidZ Lab workshops:
• Live Coding for Kidz: On Friday, June 7th 10-13h, hosted by Fridalen Skole, with 48 students participating and learning code and performing art together. https://studio.piksel.no/2024/02/22/piksel-kidz-lab-live-coding/
• Bergen Pride Program Event: In collaboration with DanceRat, on Friday, June 7th from 17:00 to 18:30, individual kids and parents can join IDLE (Inkluderende Digitalt Laboratorium for Eksperimentell Kunst) for KidZ. This workshop allows participants to play virtual instruments within the IDLE Virtual Gallery environment.
